Michael Fierro
Bassist, Michael Fierro, also hails
from the Los Angeles area.  He
started playing at age 16 in his
high school jazz band and studied
with Jim Fielder of Blood, Sweat &
Tears.  Michael attended East
L.A. College where his music
theory classmates included
members of the group Los Lobos.
Michael's musical ability covers a
wide spectrum, from playing in
beach club cover bands, R & B
bands and a Jamaican steel drum
band.  In addition, he freelanced
for many years and also did
studio work for many up and
coming artist demos.
Michael also had the privilege to
become friends with members of the

group Chicago.  He credits Laudir De Oliveira of the band in
helping him to develop as a musician and teaching him the
inner workings of a band.  In knowing what other band mates
are saying through their instruments, giving birth to the music
and letting it breathe.  Also, that a band is a unit and not an
individual endeavor.  To Michael, this education is based on
real life experience and is priceless.  We are fortunate he brings
this insight to Urban 805.  Michael's influences:  Jazz Crusaders,
John Klemmer, Mingus, Fania All Stars and of course, Chicago.
